Goals for a Work at Home Mom

Posted by dc on January 19th, 2010

Learning to be more organized is something I want to work on this year. As a work at home mom, it is very important to be organized, otherwise the whole house and home office can be a big mess in no time. Besides, it will increase my productivity as I will save time from having to search and locate things in the office.

Besides learning to more organized, I am working towards better health in 2010. I’ve always been a believer of natural health remedies and organic health solutions. Though I don’t need diet supplements but I do take other essential vitamins for my health needs. Being an allergy sufferer, I need regular in take of Vitamin C and my favourite super food has to be spiriulina, a green algae that contains lots of vitamins. Personally, I believe that to be effective in a home business, I need to keep my health in good shape, especially when there are lots of emotional demands on me as a work at home mom.

While the road is not smooth sailing sometimes, I am still thankful (everyday) that I can work from home and have a simple home office. I will choose that over a luxurious office in a big building… I suppose that’s not my calling for now.

The Mindset Needed to Earn Money From Home

Posted by dc on January 19th, 2010

Many people who first begin to try to earn money from home have been told that they can do it fast and easy. And seemingly many do believe in this claim. They think that if they try something that tells them that they will earn money online , they can do it in a few days to a few weeks. And if they do not succeed, the method is wrong and they give up.

Sadly, this is not how it works. It is true that there are plenty of scams out there so you need to take time to review before parting your money. There are a thousand and one ways to earn money from home with great success but sometimes you wonder those methods are effective at all. In terms of selling products, there are millions to choose from. Everyday there are online marketers selling best weight loss product, beauty, lifestyle items, ebooks…etc. Whatever you are marketing online, what really matters when it comes to working from home is the mindset behind it.

Anyone can try and experiment with a myriad of ways to earn money online but ultimately without a winning mindset, they will never succeed. However, most of the time, the reason for failure is simply the lack of patience. Gathering knowledge and applying it is a necessity to earn money from home. All these take time and nothing comes without it. Be patient with what you believe in and your efforts will be rewarded.

Women in Derivatives holds its first industry Forum for 2010

Posted by Femina on January 19th, 2010

Women in Derivatives, a diverse industry trade group for senior female professionals in the derivatives industry, hosted its first roundtable discussion for 2010, titled “Washington and Wall Street: Derivatives – What to Expect”.

The discussion was a roundtable panel format that included a distinguished list of industry leaders:

  • Annette Nazareth, Partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and a former Commissioner at the Securities Exchange Commission;
  • Andrea Maharam, founder of Align International, LLC and, formerly a Director at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commission’s Task Force on the Objectives and Principles of Securities Regulation; and
  • Linda Lord, Managing Director, Head, US Legislative and Regulatory Affairs at UBS Securities LLC.

The industry panel discussed the substance of recent legislation introduced in Congress and possible effects on various market participants, including dealers, hedge funds, asset managers and other market participants. The event was sponsored by IntercontinentalExchange, a leading operator of regulated global futures exchanges, clearing houses and over-the-counter (OTC) markets.

Highlights of the event include Annette Nazareth’s statement regarding current legislation and the proposal to combine governmental agencies. Nazareth said, “It is unfortunate that in the regulatory reform efforts there is no political will to streamline and rationalize regulatory agencies.”

Andrea Corcoran spoke to systemic risk, public concern, and the interconnectedness of financial institutions. Corcoran said, “The ultimate consumer of regulation is the public who puts its trust and its money in banks and other regulated intermediaries and invests in our future through the markets. The public doesn’t care about regulatory structure it cares about results. The public wants this crisis to result in evenhanded solutions that are neither too weak nor too strong but just right– so we can continue to finance progress through the capital markets and their (and our) financial future is safe while they sleep at night. “

Linda Lord offered her thoughts on whether legislation affecting derivatives would pass in 2010. Lord said, “It appears that given the complexity and breadth of issues to be resolved that comprehensive financial regulatory reform may not be accomplished this year. Notwithstanding that, it seems to me that additional legislation on executive compensation and credit rating agencies will become law.”

Women in Derivatives are an industry trade organization for senior women in the derivatives industry. The group was established to make meaningful contributions to women in the derivatives industry by providing, for example, forums for discussions related to developments in the industry, work-shops and other educational opportunities.
