Both hubby and myself have been discussing how we can be more productive in our internet business. Currently we operate from our home office and lately, it’s been a series of disruptions to our work schedule. One of the things discussed is the consideration of outsourcing for some of our work.

No matter what sort of internet business you are involved in, whether it’s just blogging, affiliate stores or other forms of monetization, you need to dedicate time and efforts towards your tasks. Hubby is all geared to launch his video marketing project but he’s been tied down with lots of other responsibilities from family and external factors. As for me, parenting takes up much of my time as a work at home mom. Plus, there is much to be done in prep for our move in December. I was planning to start some review sites this year but I just didn’t have the time to get started. While reading some prenexa reviews, I was reminded of what is left outstanding on my online business plate.

As we map out our plans for our home business, we would be taking a short break in the next few days with some friends. Hopefully our goals are clarified as we relax and unwind under the great blue sky and the sounds of sweeping waves.

80 bodies were recovered from the crash site so far and seven people have been found alive between the wrecks of the airplane, according to Pakistani interior minister Rehman Malik.

The passenger plane, property of the private airline company Air Blue, was on route to Islamabad from the sea port city of Karachi when it crashed. The plane hit a hillside – the Margalla Hills – when it attempted landing. Seven military rescue helicopters rushed to the scene of the crash in an attempt to help with the rescue operations.

Authorities are still investigating the causes of the plain’s crash. They do not know so far if the monsoon season had something to do with the accident. The possibility of a terrorist attack was not ruled out so far. The Pakistani prime minister has ordered the military to start investigating the accident right away.

Although the authorities have released the list of the passengers that were on the plane, it is still not known how many foreign citizens were traveling on it.

The Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari and the prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have expressed their shock and grief over the accident.

I have to agree that technology has opened up tremendous opportunities for those who want to work from home. In the past, it would be harder to own a home office but with today’s fast paced technology and progress, one can work anywhere in the world.

Having said that, not all countries enjoy fast internet connection and for some, a tad too slow a connection and they will be complaining. When my work at home hubby was away for missions in Myanmar, he couldn’t even send me an email as the dial-up connection at the internet kiosk was pathetically slow. Since then, he had learned to appreciate our 1 Mb internet connection, though we still miss the 10 Mb connection in Japan or Hong Kong.

With today’s technological environment, business people carry laptops or tablets for fast communication and business efficiency. At one time, I was going to own a Sony VAIO but ended up with a netbook. Now, the next thing to consider would be the new iPad.

So as long as you have a good enough internet connection where you live, a computer (desktop or laptop), you can easily start to work from home. Now, it’s about finding the right business opportunities and doing what you want best.

Astronomers using NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope have discovered carbon molecules, known as “buckyballs,” in space for the first time. Buckyballs are soccer-ball-shaped molecules that were first observed in a laboratory 25 years ago.

They are named for their resemblance to architect Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic domes, which have interlocking circles on the surface of a partial sphere. Buckyballs were thought to float around in space, but had escaped detection until now.

“We found what are now the largest molecules known to exist in space,” said astronomer Jan Cami of the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and the SETI Institute in Mountain View, Calif. “We are particularly excited because they have unique properties that make them important players for all sorts of physical and chemical processes going on in space.”

Cami authored a paper about the discovery that will appear online Thursday in the journal Science.

Buckyballs are made of 60 carbon atoms arranged in three-dimensional, spherical structures. Their alternating patterns of hexagons and pentagons match a typical black-and-white soccer ball. The research team also found the more elongated relative of buckyballs, known as C70, for the first time in space. These molecules consist of 70 carbon atoms and are shaped more like an oval rugby ball. Both types of molecules belong to a class known officially as buckminsterfullerenes, or fullerenes.

The Cami team unexpectedly found the carbon balls in a planetary nebula named Tc 1. Planetary nebulas are the remains of stars, like the sun, that shed their outer layers of gas and dust as they age. A compact, hot star, or white dwarf, at the center of the nebula illuminates and heats these clouds of material that have been shed.

The buckyballs were found in these clouds, perhaps reflecting a short stage in the star’s life, when it sloughs off a puff of material rich in carbon. The astronomers used Spitzer’s spectroscopy instrument to analyze infrared light from the planetary nebula and see the spectral signatures of the buckyballs. These molecules are approximately room temperature — the ideal temperature to give off distinct patterns of infrared light that Spitzer can detect. According to Cami, Spitzer looked at the right place at the right time. A century from now, the buckyballs might be too cool to be detected.

The data from Spitzer were compared with data from laboratory measurements of the same molecules and showed a perfect match.

“We did not plan for this discovery,” Cami said. “But when we saw these whopping spectral signatures, we knew immediately that we were looking at one of the most sought-after molecules.”

In 1970, Japanese professor Eiji Osawa predicted the existence of buckyballs, but they were not observed until lab experiments in 1985. Researchers simulated conditions in the atmospheres of aging, carbon-rich giant stars, in which chains of carbon had been detected. Surprisingly, these experiments resulted in the formation of large quantities of buckminsterfullerenes. The molecules have since been found on Earth in candle soot, layers of rock and meteorites.

The study of fullerenes and their relatives has grown into a busy field of research because of the molecules’ unique strength and exceptional chemical and physical properties. Among the potential applications are armor, drug delivery and superconducting technologies.

Sir Harry Kroto, who shared the 1996 Nobel Prize in chemistry with Bob Curl and Rick Smalley for the discovery of buckyballs, said, “This most exciting breakthrough provides convincing evidence that the buckyball has, as I long suspected, existed since time immemorial in the dark recesses of our galaxy.”

Previous searches for buckyballs in space, in particular around carbon-rich stars, proved unsuccessful. A promising case for their presence in the tenuous clouds between the stars was presented 15 years ago, using observations at optical wavelengths. That finding is awaiting confirmation from laboratory data. More recently, another Spitzer team reported evidence for buckyballs in a different type of object, but the spectral signatures they observed were partly contaminated by other chemical substances.

Well, guess what? Salt failed to take the top of the American box office and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Inception was very popular among Canadians and Americans this weekend.

This was the second weekend on the top of the Boxoffice for Inception, earning $43.5 million during the three days beginning on Friday. Still, DiCaprio’s movie dropped 31 percent this weekend from the first one, earning a total of $143.6 million in the first ten days since the premiere.

Salt, on the other hand, just had its premiere, it should have kicked Leo DiCaprio’s Inception out the door but it seems that Angelina’s latest movie didn’t appeal to Americans too much. It earned only $36.5 million, although there were prediction that the movie might hit the $40 million range. Oh, well, it didn’t! Perhaps people don’t believe in jumping off a bridge, sliding on top of three trucks and kick some bicker and then make it out alive with barely a scratch movies anymore.

This is a bad thing for Angelina Jolie since her latest two movies – Wanted and Mr. and Mrs. Smith – earned at least $50 million each in the first weekend.

On the third place in Boxoffice there is Despicable Me, the comedy which is at its third Boxoffice weekend, earning a total of $161 million, falling 26% in the boxoffice.
Here is the Top Ten BoxOffice for this weekend:

1. Inception – $43,505,000
2. Salt – $36,500,000
3. Despicable Me – $24,100,000
4. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – $9,685,000
5. Toy Story 3 – $9,030,000
6. Ramona and Beezus – $8,000,000
7. Grown Ups – $7,600,000
8. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – $7,033,000
9. The Last Airbender – $4,173,000
10. Predators – $2,850,000

Traffic is expected to flow, but motorists should expect significant delays along some portions of the 26.2-mile citywide route.

A very early start time, a course designed to minimize road disruptions, and careful coordination with city agencies will reduce traffic impacts.

The 2010 San Francisco Marathon’s Start Line is located at the Ferry Building along San Francisco’s Embarcadero.

After passing the Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf, Marina Green, and Crissy Field, runners step onto the Golden Gate Bridge at the 5-1/4 mile point.

They proceed north over the approximately 1.7 mile span into Marin County. At the north end, runners immediately turn around and re-cross the Bridge back into San Francisco.

Runners then head to the Pacific Ocean coastline at Baker Beach, through Golden Gate Park, the Haight-Ashbury District, and past AT&T Park before finishing in front of Cupid’s Arrow.

The website, which had an extraordinary development in the last few years, now can say it has over 7 percent of the Earth’s population on it.

Of course, that is if you don’t consider that a lot of people have multiple accounts…

The 500 millionth user of Facebook signed up for the website this morning, according to a blog post by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The milestone is celebrated via the launch of a new application, called Facebook Stories, where users can post stories and read other stories that users shared, categorized by themes and locations.

The link to the new application was not working at the time this article was published.

The U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce released an important report to Congress titled; “Women’s Businesses Struggle for Market Share,” which finds, during a decade of strong growth in the number of women-owned firms, women’s revenue-based market share shrank ten percent.

Newly released data from the Preliminary Estimates of Business Ownership by Gender, Ethnicity, Race and Veteran Status: 2007, from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2007 Survey of Business Owners alarmingly finds, even though the number of women’s business grew 44% between 1997 and 2007, our already small revenues-based market share declined over 10% – dropping from 4.41% in 1997 to 3.95% in 2007.

“Women own over 7.8M firms, (28.75% of all firms in the U.S.) but secure only 3.95% of all revenues. The opportunity loss and unrewarded risk, loss of job creation, market demand, tax revenues, and potential retirement assets greatly impacts America’s financial future,” says U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce CEO, Margot Dorfman.

“The media hype about the growth of women’s businesses continues to emphasize the number of women-owned firms, rather than our grossly stunted financial success,” continues Dorfman. “This report highlights the growth challenges women business owners face and the opportunity loss our country experiences as we fail to support women as entrepreneurs and business leaders. One third of all businesses – a huge segment of our total business base – are declining instead of growing. We cannot afford to not help women business owners.”

The U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce finds failure to access affordable capital, failure to access markets, and segregation from mainstream business development and leadership have contributed to the failure of women’s businesses to achieve acceptable market share growth and has contributed to America’s economic decline.

The USWCC has provided a full report to Congress with a detailed list of recommendations and is initiating aggressive regional activities to support women’s businesses and fuel revenue growth. “We’re taking women to the heart of economic development, to the sources of business funding, and to the mainstream business marketplace to turn the tide and bring new revenue and market share growth,” says Dorfman.
